I’m not a big fan of driving… or of spending money on gas for my car. So while I was intrigued with the opportunity to test drive a Nissan Altima Hybrid, I didn’t really expect to like it. But, I did like it — a lot.
Through my involvement on TravelingMom as the Traveling Finance Mom, I was offered the opportunity to test drive the Nissan Hybrid for a week. We actually had long-weekend plans that week, so it was the perfect time to check out the gas mileage. And honestly, that’s all I really expected to love about the car.
As soon as it arrived, I drove it around the block, just to get the feel of it. Then I immediately called my husband and told him that he wouldn’t believe how well this car drove. The ride is exceptionally smooth, and the car is actually a pleasure to drive. We loved all of the extra features to0 – like the Bose sound system, Bluetooth, built-in GPS, screen to see behind you as you back up, and the heated seats.
So, how was the gas mileage? For our trip, it was exceptional. We used .25 of a tank of gas for an entire week, including a mini road trip (about an hour and a half each way). I absolutely love the idea of filling up only once a month. I did a full analysis of the economics of driving a Hybrid and the money savings is pretty good (although probably won’t cover the extra cost of the car).
If you are interested in purchasing a hybrid, I’d definitely recommend taking a look at the Altima.
