Portable Playtime: Don't Fly Without One of These
When I received one of these Portable Playtime backpacks, I had one of those moments. One of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments. I also thought how incredibly handy this would have been on all the flights I have endured with my kids.
This fabulous backpack has all the necessary compartments to bring those must have toys on a flight. Books, action figures, crayons and paper, even snacks - all of it will fit in there and have a place to stay organized and keep your kids entertained. But that is not even the best part.

Everyone can find a bag for these things, but what makes Portable Playtime genius is that not only is it a great bag, it is also a perfect playmat to fit on the tray table. Yes, it open up and covers the germ infested tray table, stays securely in place, and gives your kids the perfect place to play with all the things they brought along for the trip.
Easy to keep clean, kid-tough, and in great colors and patterns, the award winning Portable Playtime backpack makes flying with kids so much easier, you will wonder how you managed without it.
To make this product even more appealing, Portable Playtime is offering Car & Caboodle readers 20% off through the end of the year, simply use the code "caboodle" when you check out.

Last Day to Enter to Win a Clek Olli Carseat
Today is the last day to enter to win this week's Carseat Giveaway- the Clek Olli. We just adore this carseat. Check out full review posted below!

Until we got a Clek, I never really believed that carseats could be fun. They were always a necessary evil, something that we invested in because we were responsible parents. Our kids sat in them begrudgingly, for the most part. But only after we spent half an afternoon cursing and moaning as we attempted to properly install them.
And then there was the Clek Olli. It's a backless booster, meant to be used with older children, between 40-100lbs and 40-57 inches. They must be able to sit properly with a lap positioning belt to use it safely. What sets Clek apart from other boosters is that is latches. Easily. Click Click. You may wonder why that is necessary, but slam on the brakes or take a sharp left and see what happens to other boosters. They slip and slide and can actually pose a threat to the person seated in them or beside them if they accidentally trigger the release of the lap positioning belt. Or they can become an airborne missile inside your car. Not good.
The Clek Olli is narrow enough to let other passengers sit in the back seat with the kids, but wide enough not to pinch anyone's bottom.
And finally - not to be forgotten, they are fashionable. They look cool. Our Clek is zebra print and looks just amazing with our black leather car interior. Like we tricked out our vehicle with custom kiddie seats. We keep an extra one installed "Just in Case" knowing full well that the kids will end up fighting over who gets to sit in the extra carseat. Which is a lot better than having them fight over riding in a carseat to begin with.

Dashboard Confessions Giveaway: "Would You Rather" Edition

If there's one game my kids enjoy playing on the road, it's "Would You Rather?". Unfortunately, they are not all that creative with the questions so when they make up their own it usually goes like this:
Kid One: "Hey Mom, would you rather walk down the street naked or eat dog poop?" (naked)
Kid Two: "Hey Mom, would you rather eat cat poop or walk down the street naked?" (still naked!)
Thankfully the folks at Zobmondo are pretty good at coming up with clever conundrums that do not all involve public nudity or animal poo, and that my kids still find immensely amusing. As do I. Such as:
"Would You Rather... Rip a garment while trying it on and swear you found it that way or… be given too much change and not tell the cashier?"
Zobmondo's version of this travel game ensures that you are never out of amusingly tricky choices and that you will enjoy much laughter and lively conversation as the miles fly by. Sans electronics!
We're hitting the road in a week's time, and we'll be bringing the travel version of Zobmondo's "Would You Rather..." game along with us. We love it so much that we decided we'd rather share it with you than keep it a secret. So we are giving away two travel sets of the classic game to two lucky winners. Here's how to enter:
In the Comments Field Below:
1. Answer the Question "Would You Rather... travel 5 hours by plane or 5 hrs by car with your children in tow?"
2. Hit us with your best original "Would You Rather" question, and keep the game going!
Two winners will be chosen at 11pm on Friday Aug 8th. Winners will have 72 hrs to respond to email before we draw another do please do check your inbox!

Dashboard Confessions: Stroller Tales & Winner of Bugaboo Frog!

We're jumping with joy to announce our winner in our Dashboard Confessions Bugaboo Frog Contest, sponsored by Let's Go Strolling. Jill Jordan, the lucky winner, told us that she has used her current stroller as an airport cart. She wrote:
"The wackiest thing I've done with my stroller (and it isn't that wacky) is using it to haul my daughter's huge carseat around the airport. (I had my daughter in a sling since the stroller was otherwise occupied!) The diaper bag that caught my eye is the Skip Hop Via Backpack. I love the convenience of a backpack diaper bag and that one looks to have all the features I want."
Skip Hop diaper bags were popular with many entrants, as were the Valco Boy Meets Girl special edition stroller, Phil and Ted's Strollers and of course, the Bugaboos. We're so happy for Jill, and hope her Bugaboo gets her to and from the boarding gates (and everywhere else) in style. Some other amusing stroller uses?
Naomi's pets are catty about her stroller:
"Our cats vie for the coveted stroller seat. Usually one will be sitting in the seat and another will be in the footrest area. Occasionally there will even be a third in the basket underneath. Tera uses her stroller for educational purposes: For the past couple of years our stroller has served a very important purchase - it carries our children's curriculum around as we pile on purchases at spring and fall book sales. As a homeschooling family, we go to quite a few."
Jo used her stroller as a fertility device:
"It was January of 2004 and I was posting on a message board that I frequent. A woman there had a thread about how badly she wanted a Bugaboo. I had never heard of such a thing, but after investigation I wanted one too...bad! Only problem, I did not have a child and had no plans on having a child. It all changed that day. I became somewhat obsessed with getting a Bugaboo. I also became determined to have a child. Fast forward to October 2007. I was blessed with the most perfect baby boy at 6:18 in the morning."
Susan's husband used their stroller as a mobile dental office:
"my husband (a dentist) was volunteering for a community health fair and his assistant forgot to bring his cart to place his instruments. Our Peg Perego P3 travel system stroller came in super handy that day! He placed his trays and laptop (for x-rays) on it and was able to move it around to give free dental check ups for people in the community who could not afford dental care."
Steve's wife used their stroller as a walker:
"We have used our strollers for so many things. I think that my favorite was watching my wife use it as a walker after major surgery. Since she could not carry anything heavy and had a hard time walking, she used the stroller for just about everything - inside the house."
Angel once borrowed a stroller for a mobile kegger:
"Before I tell my story, I just want to apologize to my Aunt Diane. My only excuse is that I was young and dumb and it was the early nineties. When I was in college, my Aunt Diane loaned me her car for a weekend. In the back was a baby stroller that we used to push a keg up to our dorm. If that wasn't bad enough we put a big black garbage bag in the seat, put the keg back in and packed it in ice. We joked all night long about having a mobile party. We even pushed it to different locations in the dorm through out the night."
Carrie used her sister's stroller as a shopping aid during huge sales:
"Since this is my first child, I have not had a stroller to use in strange ways but my sister and I used one of her's to push around and block other shoppers on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) to get into the front of the line or move other shoppers away from an item we were after. The baby was home with his daddy sleeping in!"

Dashboard Confessions Giveaway: Giving In On The Road
This week's Dashboard Confessions Giveaway is sponsored by Bediboo. Congratulations to the winner of our last Giveaway who won a Billboard Messenger Bag from Dadgear! This week's randomly selected winner will get a $75 gift coupon from the most excellent childrens store, Bediboo.com. Deadline to enter is 11pm, Friday June 6th. It's time to fess up!
Getting to your destination with kids breathing down your neck is no easy task. It's hard to keep your eyes on the road when you are hearing constant are-we-there-yets and she-touched-mes!
In order to keep the peace in the car, ordinary rules may not apply. Non tv-watching families may plug in for the long haul and junk food free types may load up on the munchies. We've even heard of families who like to let their kids travel in their Halloween Costumes. In July.
Whatever the case is in your car, we want to know! What rules do you let slide when you hit the road?
Important Note: In order to be eligible, please leave a comment and tell us your Dashboard Confession and also tell us which item in particular from the Bediboo website would be most likely to keep your kids entertained (or at least well dressed) on your next travel adventure.

collision.kit by Buttoned Up - A Savior in Time Of Need

If you were to get into a car accident, and in the midst of the shock forgot to get the phone number of the other party, you’d never forgive yourself. This is why ButtonedUp owners created the collision.kit.
The collision.kit contains preprinted semi instructional information cards for you to gather and store all of the vital information you would need to give and get in a car accident. There is an extra pad of paper, pen, and envelope for your insurance card and a disposable camera. It all zips up and fits in your glove compartment, taking up little more space than a paperback novel.
The question now is: why doesn’t everyone have one in their car?
Car & Caboodle readers: buy the collision.kit at Precious Personalities and you will get 10% off by using code MWS10.
